UMK 2025 application starts from August 19 to August 25, 2024

Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (Contest for New Music) is an open song contest organised by Yle for all musicians. The application period starts in August and the application form is open on the site from 19 to 25 August 2024. Now is good time to get to know the rules.

Since 2020, UMK has become an increasingly important arena for Finnish music. UMK artists frequently appear on the list of most popular songs and albums. The 2023 winner Käärijä achieved record-high popularity in both Finland and Europe. In 2024, the UMK event moved to Nokia Arena, and the two shows were sold out in just a few hours.

And the journey has just begun, the contest is still developing and growing. Do you want to be part of the UMK story? If your answer is yes, mark the application date in your calendar.

The rules for the UMK25 contest have been published, check them out here!

The Contest for New Music has been organised as a pre-qualification for the Eurovision Song Contest since 2012.
