Alyona Alyona & Jerry Heil have won Vidbir 2024 and will represent Ukraine at Eurovision 2024 with “Teresa & Maria”
Ukraine has picked its song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö. The Ukrainian national selection contest Vidbir 2024 was filmed on Friday due to safety issues.
Due to technical issues with the voting app, the public voting, which was supposed to finish on Saturday evening, actually just ended today. This delay of 22 hours made things a bit tense. The rules said that if the public vote couldn’t happen, the jury vote would decide. But one of the jurors, Jamala (who represented Ukraine in 2016), was against this:
All three of us (jurors) insisted that the people should vote. I am very happy that the public has spoken, as this is the essence of Eurovision.
Out of the 11 artists in Vidbir 2024, Alyona Alyona & Jerry Heil snagged the win. Their song “Teresa & Maria” got second place from the jury, but the public loved it and voted them to the top. So, now they get to represent Ukraine at Eurovision 2024.
“Teresa & Maria” was written by Alyona Savranenko, Anton Chilibi, Ivan Klymenko, and Yana Shemaeva.
