Another nation that’s among one of the most loyal to Junior Eurovision is little Malta. It was there at the start in 2003 and has only missed two Contests. They’ve even won twice. In recent years, Malta has delivered songs with very positive messages. This song is no exception. It has an empowering message but Yulan delivers with amazing vocals. Not only are her vocals strong but they’re also soulful. This ballad does have a soulful feeling to it. I like it.
JESC Chances: Interesting how this year, there seems to be more ballads than upbeat songs. Ballads can still win at Junior Eurovision, but they face a challenge with the online voters who normally give higher votes to more upbeat songs. Also Yulan may be very talented and professional, but I have seen some songs finish not so well in the past because they were ‘too mature’ for Junior Eurovision. This is one of the most mature entries this year, but it’s possible it could be too mature for the JESC crowds to buy it up. One thing’s for sure about this song. I’m very confident it won’t be a second year of Malta finishing last.
