Education and theater career

Mustii finished his studies in theatre at the Institut des Arts de Diffusion in Louvain-la-Neuve in 2012 and began working in television on the series “À tort ou à raison” (RTBF and France 3). He also played the role of Benvolio in a theater tour spanning over a year and a half in France and Belgium in “Roméo et Juliette”.

In early 2015, he participated in the revival of the show “L’Auberge du Cheval-Blanc,” at the Palais des beaux-arts de Charleroi and the Royal Opera of Wallonia. He acted in films alongside Romain Duris and Gustave Kervern in “Un petit boulot” and with Fabrizio Rongione in “Les Survivants.” He played Kevin in the Belgian series “La Trêve.” The series was a big success in Belgium and was also aired in France.

Music career

In 2014, Mustii signed a contract with Kid Noize’s label, Black Gizah Record. His first single, “The Golden Age,” quickly gained popularity on various Belgian radio stations.

In 2016, he released his EP “The Darkest Night” and performed at various Belgian festivals. In the same year, he collaborated with Kid Noize on three duets for his album “Dream Culture,” including the songs “Ocean,” “Dark,” and “Do You Know.”

In October 2016, he performed his first solo concert at the Cirque Royal in Brussels. Numerous Belgian media outlets praised his performance at the Cirque Royal, highlighting his charisma on stage, powerful voice, spontaneity, and connection with the audience.

Mustii cites musical influences including David Bowie, Florence and the Machine, Grace Jones, Frank Sinatra, Iggy Pop, Depeche Mode, and many others.

Awards

In December 2016, he received six nominations at the D6bels Music Awards in categories such as Male Solo Artist, Concert, Pure FM Artist/Group, Revelation, Music Video, and Songwriter. He won the Revelation of the Year award.

In February 2019, he received the Magritte Award for Best Male Newcomer in Belgian cinema. In the same year, he was nominated for the Critic’s Prize in the Male Newcomer category for his role in William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet”.

In 2021, he appeared on the song “What About Ecosystem?” by the Russian rock group Mumiy Troll, who represented Russia at Eurovision 2001 in Copenhagen.

Drag Race Belgique

In January 2023, he was announced as the head judge for the “Drag Race Belgique” show, during which he discussed his coming out. He took the stage in the semi-final of “The Dancer,” the Belgian adaptation of “The Greatest Dancer,” performing his song “Shame” alongside the ten contestants from “Drag Race Belgique.” Next year he’ll also return as a permanent judge on “Drag Race Belgique” (Season 2).

On August 30, 2023, the Walloon broadcaster Radio Télévision Belge de la Communauté Française (RTBF) announced Mustii as Belgium’s representative at Eurovision 2024, in Malmö, Sweden, on May 7, 9, and 11, 2024. His song will be released in February 2024.
