Malta Chooses Its Eurovision 2026 Entry: Aidan Wins MESC 2026

Tonight, on 17 January 2026, the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2026 (MESC 2026) culminated in a grand final at the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre in Ta’ Qali, where Aidan was crowned the winner with his song “Bella” — earning the right to represent Malta at Eurovision 2026 in Vienna. The result was determined by a 50/50 combination of professional jury and public televote.  

The Maltese Selection Format

MESC 2026 consisted of a semi-final (15 January) and a grand final (17 January). Eighteen artists performed in the semi-final, with twelve qualifying for tonight’s decisive show through a mix of jury and public votes. The selection was hosted by Destiny Chukunyere, Gaia Cauchi, and Keane Cutajar.

Winner: Aidan – “Bella”

Aidan emerged victorious with his song “Bella”, written by Aidan Cassar, Joep van den Boom, and Sarah Bonnici. Aidan won jury voting and came second in televoting, overall the first place and will carry Malta’s hopes to Vienna in May.

8. Mychael Bartolo Chircop – “My Sweet Angel”
9. Mark Anthony Bartolo – “Mumenti sbieħ”
10. Aidan – “Bella”
11. Matthew Cilia and The AfterParty – “Brutality Mentality”
12. Adria Twins – “Nerġa’ nqum”  

These twelve acts were selected from the 18 semi-finalists who competed earlier in the week.
