For the 68th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, RTL is now looking for the artist who will represent the Grand Duchy in May 2024 in Sweden. The first phase of the preselection starts today July 3 and the National Final will be held on January 27, 2024.
In this framework, candidates are sought who want to take part in this competition. The first phase of the preselection is July 3. Anyone who wants to represent country can from now on register on the official, national site www.eurovision.lu
These conditions must be met
- Be at least 16 years old on January 27, 2024
- Be available and flexible between November 2023 and May 2024
- Being able to sing live and not being afraid to stand on a big stage
- Have Luxembourgish nationality
or
- living in Luxembourg for at least 3 consecutive years
or
- Being able to demonstrate a link with the Luxembourg cultural scene or a connection with the music scene in this country. Concretely, several criteria must be met: to be active in the world of music on a national level, to cooperate regularly and closely with cultural institutions and to already be a recognized actor in the Luxembourg cultural scene.
What are they looking for?
Singers and bands should send a song of a maximum of three minutes by October 1 this year, with a maximum of 3 songs.
You don’t have your own song, but want to prove your singing talent? Then by July 16, 2023, you can send an audio in which you briefly introduce yourself via the registration page , with an interpretation of a song of your choice.
You can also be a composer or songwriter abroad if you collaborate with a national talent. Here, too, the delay applies until October 1, 2023.
Several rules must also be met here:
- The composition should not last longer than three minutes
- The content must not be plagiarized
- The songs may not be released before September 1 this year
- The language of the songs is free
- The texts must neither be discriminatory nor go in a political direction
How is it going?
When all the proposals are submitted, they will be evaluated by a jury and they will also decide who goes on. RTL announces the names of the finalists.
On January 27, 2024, it will be the showdown in the Escher Rockhal. All the candidates who made it through the pre-selection must prove themselves there.
And that will be broadcast live on RTL!
Whoever wins there will automatically, after 30 years of Luxembourg’s absence from the ESC, be on stage in Sweden and may claim the Grand Duchy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.
