Lithuania has officially launched its national selection Eurovizija.LT 2026, with applications now open for artists and songwriters wishing to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Austria.
Submissions Open Until November 11
Artists can submit their entries to LRT until November 11, 2025. Songs must be completely new – not released before September 1, 2025, never performed publicly, and no longer than 3 minutes. Full rules and application forms are available at eurovizija.lt.
To support participants, LRT will allocate up to €1,500 for each competing entry, helping with the production of the song’s backing track and stage presentation. Additionally, part of the revenue from televoting will go directly towards preparing the winner for Eurovision 2026.
Format Updates for 2026
LRT has introduced significant changes to bring the show closer to international Eurovision standards:
❌ The superfinal has been removed: all finalists will now compete equally, and the audience alone will decide the winner.
📲 No phone calls – voting will be conducted via SMS and online only.
✅ Voting will be handled by German company ONCE, which also works with the Eurovision Song Contest, ensuring modern and transparent results.
Audrius Giržadas, LRT’s Chief Producer, explained:
“This year we are taking another step towards the viewers – during the Eurovizija.LT final, it will be they who make the final decision on who represents Lithuania in Austria. All finalists will face the same competition, with the public vote as the decisive factor.”
Schedule for Eurovizija.LT 2026
Depending on the number of applications, up to six semi-finals will be held.
🎥 Semi-final recordings begin: January 14, 2026 🎶 Grand Final: February 27, 2026 at Twinsbet Arena, Vilnius, broadcast live
Looking Ahead to Austria
Lithuania’s winner will go on to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, hosted in Austria in May.
🇱🇹 Lithuania at Eurovision: A Quick Overview
Lithuania made its Eurovision debut in 1994 and has participated regularly since 1994, with a few breaks in between. The country’s best result came in 2006, when LT United performed “We Are the Winners” and finished 6th in Athens.
Over the years, Lithuania has become known for bold, creative, and sometimes experimental entries, often blending pop, electronic, and ethnic influences. The nation continues to select its representative via the Eurovizija.LT national final, which has grown into one of the most watched music shows in the country.
Now Lithuania is ready for another exciting season of Eurovizija.LT, with fresh changes and a new focus on audience power. Who will raise the tricolor in Austria next May?
