Cyprus has become the first country to reveal its artist for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.

On Thursday, 6 November, the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) announced that Antigoni will represent Cyprus at the upcoming contest, which will take place in Vienna, Austria.

Born in London to Greek-Cypriot parents, Antigoni Buxton is a British-Greek-Cypriot singer and songwriter known for her distinctive blend of pop and Mediterranean influences. She has released several singles, including “Red Flag”“Hit List”, and “Habibi”, and performs under her first name, Antigoni.

The announcement makes Cyprus the first country to officially confirm its representative for the 2026 competition. The song that Antigoni will perform in Vienna will be revealed at a later date, according to CyBC.

The 70th Eurovision Song Contest will be hosted by Austria in Vienna’s Wiener Stadthalle, with the Grand Final on 16 May 2026, and semi-finals on 12 and 14 May.

Cyprus has a long and colourful Eurovision history, debuting in 1981 and achieving its best result in 2018 with Eleni Foureira’s “Fuego”, which finished second. With Antigoni, Cyprus continues its tradition of strong female performers and contemporary pop sound.
