It’s a given. Whenever Armenia come to Junior Eurovision, they don’t just bring anything. They bring something will big potential. Their nine Top 3 finishes out of fifteen previous participations speak volumes about what they send. This year they send a five-girl girl group called “The Yan Girls.” I think their called the Yan Girls because their surnames all end with -yan, like most Armenian surnames. Right from the start, the song will grab your attention. In a fashion that will remind some older viewers of the Spice Girls, they flex their attitude in the song from start to finish. All five girls have something to deliver as solo pieces in the song and they all come together very well. The song’s lyrics are empowering and the five girls know how to show their empowerment. As for the music, the song itself has a very catchy beat and the music even includes Armenian culture.
JESC Chances:
Armenia’s entries score very well because they know how to stand out. Their songs are either very catchy or their show is quite the showstopper. Some even have both qualities. This is one song that has the potential to do both on the night of the Contest. If you’ve heard the song and have also seen the video, you will understand the hype behind it. Nevertheless their performance in Nice will be make-or-break for the song. It could risk being like North Macedonia’s Green Forces in 2021 which was loaded with buzz, but the show during the Contest didn’t live up to the hype. If the Yan Girls’ show lives up to people’s anticipation, I can see this getting another Top 3 finish for Armenia. Or even their third win!
