After a multi-year absence, Bulgaria is making its comeback to the Eurovision Song Contest. The Bulgarian National Television (BNT) has officially confirmed that the country will participate in Eurovision 2026, much to the delight of fans across Europe.

BNT’s Director General, Emil Koshlyukov, emphasized the cultural significance of Bulgaria’s return:

“Eurovision is a stage where cultures meet and stories are shared. BNT supports talented artists, and we are happy that we were once again able to secure the opportunity for a Bulgarian performer to represent our country before a multi‑million audience.”

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) also welcomed the news. Executive Supervisor Martin Green commented:

“We are very excited to welcome BNT back to the Eurovision family after a three‑year break. Its return is yet another proof that we remain united by music, as well as of the contest’s enormous popularity.”

Bulgaria’s participation in Eurovision has been marked by both highs and lows. The country has competed 14 times, with its best result achieved in 2017 when Kristian Kostov finished 2nd with the song “Beautiful Mess”. In other years, Bulgaria struggled to qualify for the Grand Final, and the last participation was in 2022 with the band Intelligent Music Project performing “Intention”.

Looking ahead to 2026, BNT will soon reveal details about the selection process for the country’s representative. Fans eagerly await news on the format and timeline, as Bulgaria gears up to showcase its music and culture on the international stage once again.

Bulgaria’s return to Eurovision 2026 promises excitement, talent, and a renewed chance to shine in one of the world’s most watched music competitions.
