Bulgaria’s road to Eurovision 2026 is officially underway! Bulgarian National Television (BNT) has announced the 15 artists who will compete in the country’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in Vienna, Austria, in May 2026 during the contest’s 70th anniversary edition.

How the Selection Line-Up Was Chosen

In a fresh approach to the national selection, BNT collaborated with PROPHON — an industry association that tracks music airplay metrics — to identify the most relevant Bulgarian performers from the past year. Artists were invited based on a combination of:

Airplay on Bulgarian radio and television Positions in the PROPHON “BG Top 40” chart Streaming performance on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Engagement on social media

The goal, according to BNT, is to strike a balance between established stars and innovative emerging talent, creating a competitive and exciting field of contenders.

Format of the National Selection

BNT’s selection will unfold across three live televised shows on BNT 1 in January and February 2026:

Stage One (24 January): All 15 artists will perform one song of their choice from their own repertoire. Stage Two (31 January): Seven artists will advance and perform again. Final Stage: One winner will be chosen to represent Bulgaria in Vienna.

The decision at each stage will be based on a combined vote from the television audience and a professional jury, ensuring both public support and industry insight factor into the final result.

Looking Ahead to Vienna

The winner of Bulgaria’s national selection will go on to compete on the Eurovision stage in Vienna, where semi-finals are set for 12 and 14 May, and the grand final takes place on 16 May 2026.

This year’s process marks a significant moment in Bulgaria’s Eurovision history — with a fully open national final driven by transparent, data-based selection criteria and a balanced mix of seasoned performers and fresh voices.
