The Netherlands has officially unveiled its Eurovision 2025 entry! Claude will sing in Basel “C’est La Vie”, and also the music video for the track has now been released.

A Song with a Message

On his Eurovision entry, Claude shares:

“‘C’est La Vie’ is a tribute to a parent and for me that’s my mother. As a little boy and throughout my youth, she taught me to see the positive in the things you experience in life, even when you experience setbacks. Even though it looks very dark for a moment, you should always focus on the bright side. That is exactly the message I want to convey. Life is not always easy; it goes up, it goes down, and around and around, but ‘C’est La Vie’!”

Claude was selected after a careful, phased process led by Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS, which received 331 submissions for Eurovision 2025. In November, he entered the studio with Arno Krabman, Joren van der Voort, and Léon Palmen to craft the perfect song for the contest.

Claude’s Eurovision Journey Begins

With “C’est La Vie”, Claude will take the Eurovision 2025 stage in Basel during the First Semi-Final on Tuesday, May 13. In the coming weeks, he will refine his performance alongside his creative team, including Creative Director Pim Brassien and Lighting Designer Henk-Jan van Beek.

Claude teases what’s to come:

“I’m not going to say too much about it yet, but I especially want to touch the audience with my song; it must convey strength and positivity. I think the song is perfect for that; the emotions and the tempo alternate and you will see that on stage.”

Who Is Claude?

Born in Congo, Claude moved to the Netherlands at the age of nine. His first encounter with the Eurovision Song Contest came shortly after, when he and his family watched Conchita Wurst’svictory for Austria in 2014. It became a yearly tradition, sparking his lifelong love for Eurovision.

Claude’s breakthrough came in 2022 with his debut single “Ladada (Mon Dernier Mot)”, which has now surpassed 57 million streams. His success quickly grew, earning him prestigious titles such as:

3FM Award for ‘Best Newcomer’

‘3FM Talent’ recognition

Qmusic’s ‘Best Artist of the Year’

He also won the hearts of Dutch audiences with his appearance on the popular TV show Beste Zangers.

In 2024, Claude released his debut album “Parler Français”, co-writing all the songs himself. The album allowed him to tour the Netherlands and Belgium with his band. That same year, he was honored as Ambassador of Freedom, a role that held deep personal meaning for him.

A Rising Star on the International Stage

Claude’s music has made waves beyond the Netherlands. The English-French version of “Ladada”charted in over 15 countries, reaching the Top 10 in Italy. His latest release, “Layla”, has further cemented his status as an artist with global appeal.

2025 is shaping up to be a monumental year for Claude. In addition to representing the Netherlands at Eurovision, he will also perform at the legendary Pinkpop Festival.

Can “C’est La Vie” bring the Netherlands another Eurovision victory? We’ll find out in May!
