Victor Vernicos is a Greek representative at Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool
Victor Vernicos Jørgense is a Greek singer and songwriter, born on 23 October 2006.
Early life and education
Victor Vernicos was born on 23 October 2006 in Athens to a Danish father and a Greek mother. He started piano lessons at the age of four, singing lessons at eight, and guitar lessons at ten. Victor studied music in a music school called Modern Music Arts.
Victor started to write his own music at the age of eleven, released his first song “Hope It’s In Heaven” at the age of 14! The song was written and produced entirely by himself.
Victor always been a music lover, raised on many genres like soul, funk, blues, hip hop, acoustic folk pop and more. His inspiration in music are Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, BB King, Van Morrison, and many others!
Victor’s other hobbies include Football and boxing.
Eurovision 2023
In Autumn 2022, Victor announced that he had submitted a song to the Greek public broadcaster ERT to be considered as a possible entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023.
On 28 December 2022, it was revealed that his entry “What They Say” was among the seven shortlisted acts.Victor subsequently advanced to the final three candidates.
On 30 January 2023, it was announced by ERT that Victor Vernicos had been selected to represent Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023! He is the youngest artist to have represented Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Victor says about his song:
It wasn’t composed specifically for Eurovision! It was composed to express my first ever strong experience of anxiety! The song is festival like and anthemic though it still provides a sense of vulnerability and strong emotion to it.
Victor love Eurovision and it has always been his dream until he truly put it into his head to go to Eurovision in early 2022. And his dream come true! Victor loves the first ever Eurovision entrance of Greece, also 2022 entry “Die together” by Amanda Tenfjord and “Arcade” by Duncan Laurence as well!
