Eurovision in Concert – the largest Eurovision pre-show & party in Europe, took place on 9th April in AFAS Live in Amsterdam, and in the last edition 28 out of 41 participating acts took part
After a two-year break due to the pandemic, Eurovision in Concert made a triumphant return to Amsterdam on Saturday. Fans and press from across Europe (and even as far as Peru and the US) travel to Amsterdam to see their favorite Eurovision artists live on stage in AFAS Live, where in 2012 the Junior Eurovision Song Contest was held.
The event provided an excellent opportunity for fans and members of the Eurovision community to meet and mingle, and to get a sneak preview of what to expect from this year’s competition. Participating countries sent their Eurovision artists to Amsterdam to perform their songs live on stage before heading off to the host city for the main event.
One of the most notable performance of the night came from Ukraine’s Kalush Orchestra, who obtained special permission to leave their war-torn country to take part in the promo tour. The group performed in front of a large QR code, allowing fans to donate to Ukraine.
There were a lot of other outstanding performances and the Dutch artist S10 closed the show with an emotional rendition of her hit song “De Diepte.”
Unfortunately, Sweden’s Cornelia Jakobs had to withdraw from the event due to a positive COVID-19 test. However, Eurovision 2012 winner Loreen made a special appearance as a guest, with her hits “My Heart Is Refusing Me” and “Euphoria.”
Also the event provided a fantastic opportunity for members of the Eurovision community of journalists to come together and connect with the participating artists. It was a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new ones, and to share in the excitement and anticipation of the upcoming event.
As part of our coverage of the upcoming Eurovision 2023 competition, we had the unique opportunity to interview some of this year’s participating artists. Through these interviews, we were able to gain valuable insights into their creative process and artistic vision, as well as to learn more about their backgrounds and personal stories.
It was an exciting opportunity to connect with these talented performers and to get a sneak preview of what they have in store for the Eurovision stage.
We are happy to share the interviews with our readers and offer a glimpse into the fascinating world of Eurovision 2023.
