The Board of Directors of France Télévisions has approved a balanced 2026 budget amid an extremely tight financial framework. With public funding down sharply and costs rising, the broadcaster is implementing a €140 million savings plan, including cuts across programming and operational expenses.
As a result, France Télévisions has decided not to host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026 on French soil. France, the 2025 Junior Eurovision winner, had the option to host, but the tight budget made it impossible to take on the costs of staging the event.
The EBU and potential hosts will now explore other options for the contest’s venue and organization.
