Germany has selected its Eurovision 2025 entry! Abor & Tynna have won the inaugural edition of Chefsache ESC, earning the right to represent Germany in Basel this May with their song ‘Baller’.
A Night of Music in Cologne
The German national final took place on Saturday, 2 March, live from Cologne, featuring nine actscompeting for the coveted ticket to Eurovision 2025.
Chefsache ESC introduced a two-round voting system:
• In Round One, the jury panel—comprising Stefan Raab, Conchita Wurst, Yvonne Catterfeld, and Nico Santos—chose five acts to advance.
• In Round Two, the public had the final say, casting votes via phone, SMS, and online. International fans could also participate.
When the votes were counted, it was Abor & Tynna who came out on top, securing Germany’s spot in Eurovision 2025 with their song ‘Baller’.
The Song: ‘Baller’
Composed by Alexander Hauer, Attila Bornemisza, and Tünde Bornemisza, Baller is set to bring a fresh, energetic sound to the Eurovision stage.
The song will compete in Basel on 15 May, during Semi-Final 2, as Germany aims to return to the Eurovision Grand Final.
Meet Abor & Tynna
The Austrian-born sibling duo, Abor & Tynna, hail from a musical family in Vienna. Their father, a cellist in the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, inspired them to pursue music from a young age. Both siblings learned classical instruments before shifting their focus to songwriting.
Since composing their first songs together in 2016, Abor & Tynna have built a name for themselves in Vienna, Berlin, and Hanover, performing at various venues. In 2024, they also toured as support acts for German pop star Nina Chuba.
Germany’s Eurovision Comeback?
Germany will be hoping for a stronger Eurovision result after a series of disappointing finishes in recent years. With a dynamic sibling duo and an electrifying track, Abor & Tynna could be the act to revive Germany’s Eurovision fortunes.
