Once again for Ireland to choose their ninth-ever entry, TG4 held the Junior Eurovision Eire contest. In that contest, the singers sang covers of big hits and past Eurovision songs. It took many weeks to decide but in the Final of the competition, the representative was decided to be 14-year-old Enya Cox Dempsey from Castlecomer. Her song will be “Le Chéile.”
“Le Chéile” is Gaelic for Together. The song is about pursuing a future that’s unknown but she’s confident with her friend by her side. This song begins with a soft tempo but soon becomes the danceable song it’s meant to be. It has a lot of energy and attitude. Enya doesn’t show off too much in her singing but her vocals are great throughout the song. This is a song with a lot of qualities that make it worth liking.
JESC Chances:
Except for a pair of Top 10 finishes, Ireland has a lot of tough breaks at Junior Eurovision. Mind you many times, Ireland enters a lackluster song. This year, they have something I can see a lot of young people liking. I myself like the danceable sound of the song. This song has some mixed results in the various polls. I can see this song giving Ireland its third Top 10 finish. Nevertheless it will depend on the right staging to help the song excel.
