Dutch organizing broadcaster Avrotros has announced that Mia Nicolai and Dion Cooper are going for the Netherlands to the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, which will take place in Liverpool in May. They have been unanimously appointed by the selection committee.
Mia and Dion are two young artists, aged 26 and 28, who were brought together two years ago by former Song Contest winner Duncan Laurence and songwriter Jordan Garfield. The four of them wrote the song that will be the Dutch entry for next year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
“These two are individually great artists, but when I heard those voices together, the same feeling arose as with Arcade. I thought: something magical is happening here, we need to do more with this.”
says Duncan Laurence.
Mia and Dion themselves call their participation a great opportunity to tell their story on a large scale.
“It feels fantastic and still a bit surreal that the selection committee has chosen our song, but we are ready to bring something positive to Europe.”
The song itself has not yet been presented, that will happen at a later time. Avrotros says Mia and Dion will be working on their act in the coming months. They are also helped by Duncan Laurence and Jordan Garfield.
