RTVE has unveiled new details about the upcoming Benidorm Fest 2026, Spain’s pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. The announcement, made today (September 9, 2025), sets out a clear roadmap for how the fifth edition of the contest will unfold.

Participants to Be Revealed in October

Fans won’t have to wait too long to discover who will take the stage in Benidorm. RTVE confirmed that the list of competing artists will be revealed in the first half of October.

Songs Out by Christmas

As in previous years, the excitement will continue to build over the holiday season. The songs will be released before Christmas, allowing fans plenty of time to get to know the tracks before the live shows in February.

A Mix of Familiar Faces and New Talent

One of RTVE’s key goals for Benidorm Fest 2026 is to balance established stars with emerging artists. This approach is designed to ensure that the contest remains both credible within the Spanish music industry and a launchpad for new talent.

Number of Participants

RTVE’s official rulebook for Benidorm Fest 2026 states that up to 16 participants will be selected for the competition, with six alternates in reserve. However, if the quality of submissions is exceptionally high, RTVE reserves the right to increase the number of participants to a maximum of 20.

Stage Design & Technical Details

While there’s no official description yet for the 2026 stage, we can reference previous editions for an informed idea: In Benidorm Fest 2024, the main stage was an oval shape covering 581 m², with a circular floor screen and LED tunnel-like access to the backstage, alongside a Green Room and jury area spanning 475 m², all complemented by a total of 680 m² for live audience space. In Benidorm Fest 2025, RTVE introduced a triangular-shaped stage, nearly 30 m wide, featuring a 20 m long triangular floor screen and a large central triangular vertical LED display. It included dual side staircases, a polygonal Green Room linked via walkways to the host and jury areas, and a technical crew of over 300 staff with 18 cameras, 500 lighting fixtures, and six power generators.

Innovation and Growth

RTVE also underlined its ambition to make Benidorm Fest more than just a Eurovision pre-selection. This year will feature new initiatives, including:

A revamped artistic committee. Open rehearsals with audience access. Stronger promotion to boost the brand beyond the contest.

Festival Dates

Benidorm Fest 2026 will take place from February 10 to 14, 2026, featuring two semi-finals and a grand final.

With Spain aiming to strengthen its Eurovision chances, Benidorm Fest 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most competitive and exciting editions yet. Fans can expect a vibrant mix of music, established names, and promising newcomers — all set against the iconic backdrop of Benidorm.
