Denmark has chosen its Eurovision 2025 entry! Sissal emerged victorious at Melodi Grand Prix 2025, securing her place in Basel with the song ‘Hallucination’.
The Danish national selection took place at Boxen in Herning on Saturday, 1 March, with eight acts competing for the chance to represent Denmark at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest.
After an intense two-hour show, three finalists advanced to the Superfinal, determined by a combination of jury votes and public voting via SMS and app. The final three contenders were:
• Sissal – ‘Hallucination’
• Tim Schou – ‘Proud’
• Adel the Second – ‘The Unluckiest Boy Alive’
Following another round of performances, the voting was reset, and the Danish public and jury cast their final votes. In the end, Sissal claimed victory, lifting the Melodi Grand Prix trophy and securing Denmark’s Eurovision spot with her electropop anthem.
The Song: ‘Hallucination’
Written by Chris Chordz, Line Spangsberg, Linnea Deb, Malthe Johansen, Marcus Winther-John, Melanie Wehbe, and Sissal herself, Hallucination is a danceable, synth-heavy track that explores the intensity of human connection.
The club-ready anthem is expected to bring Nordic electropop energy to the Eurovision stage on Thursday, 15 May, when Denmark competes in the Second Half of Semi-Final 2.
Who is Sissal?
Sissal Jóhanna Norðberg Niclasen hails from Tórshavn in the Faroe Islands but is now based in Copenhagen. Music has been a part of her life from an early age—her mother recalls that Sissal started singing before she could even talk.
Her first performance came at just 10 years old, in a talent show similar to MGP Junior. Since then, she has pursued a career in music, gaining recognition through DR’s talent programme KarriereKanonen and performing at various festivals.
She has even voiced a character in the Danish dub of a Disney film and performed for the King of Denmark.
A fan of Eurovision, Sissal draws inspiration from Nordic electropop icons like Dagny and Robyn.
