Tautumeitas Wins Supernova 2025 And Will Represent Latvia in Basel

Latvia has chosen its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel! The folk-inspired girl group Tautumeitas won Supernova 2025 with their song Bur man laimi and will fly the Latvian flag in May.

The Supernova 2025 journey began with last Saturday’s Semi-final, where ten acts secured a spot in the Grand Final. Tonight, they returned to the stage, hoping to impress both the jury (50%) and the Latvian public (50%).

After an evening of outstanding performances, Tautumeitas emerged victorious with Bur man laimi, securing their place in Eurovision history.

The song was written by Asnate Rancāne, Aurēlija Rancāne, Elvis Lintiņš, Gabriēla Zvaigznīte, and Laura Līcīte.

Who are Tautumeitas?

Formed in 2015, Tautumeitas is a six-member Latvian folk music group consisting of Asnate Rancāne, Laura Līcīte, Aurēlija Rancāne, Gabriēla Zvaigznīte, Annemarija Moiseja, and Kate Slišāne.

Their music blends traditional Latvian folk melodies with contemporary elements, including percussion, bass, and synthesizers, creating a unique sound that has captivated audiences both in Latvia and internationally.

The group’s name, “Tautumeitas”, translates to “folk maidens”, reflecting their dedication to preserving and modernizing Latvia’s rich musical heritage.

With albums like Folk Girls (2018), Dziesmas no Aulejas (2020), and Skrejceļš (2022), Tautumeitas has established itself as a leading force in Latvia’s contemporary folk scene.
