Hard to believe Eurovision 2025 is just days away! I have to say this year’s Eurovision has a lot of ironies. We have a Claude and a Klavdia. We have a singer named Bosnjak representing Croatia, three Italian or Italian-themed songs and Swedes from Finland singing about the joys of sauna life!

What can I say? Eurovision is unpredictable. The songs once again offer a lot of variety and it makes doing a Top 10 list hard. It’s even harder to get the drive to do it after typing blogs reviewing songs. Despite it, I did muster the energy to pick out the ten songs that are my favorites and even a few honorable mentions. Once again, the focus was more on the song. For songs decided by a national final, there was some focus on how their performance in the national final added to it, but not too much:

My Pre-Contest Top Ten

  1. AUSTRIA – One word to describe it: unpredictable. It grabs your attention from the start, JJ’s vocals blow you away, the mood of the songs owns your attention throughout, and a relentless 20 seconds at the end! No wonder it’s a heavy favorite to win.
  2. FINLAND – The two things I like best about this song is its energy from start to finish and Erika’s boldness in her performance. If ‘Cha Cha Cha’ could have an equal by a female singer, this would be the closest to it.
  3. SWEDEN – After years of sending entries that were English-language polished pop perfection, they send a light-hearted entry from a comedic trio in Finland Swedish with a polka vibe and a celebratory feel. And it wins us over! Perfect song for a sauna party!
  4. BELGIUM – This year, there are a lot of songs with the 1990’s Eurodance sound. This is a song with that sound and a trance vibe with a growing intensity, infectious beat and vocals that know how to deliver!
  5. GREECE – I am often a fan for Greek entries with an ethnic feel. This song is no exception but it goes beyond entertaining me. It has a good message and the raw emotion in this song adds to its beauty.
  6. SAN MARINO – Of the three Italian-themed entries, this song has the most Italian vibe! This can make a great chant at soccer games. I’m waiting to see a tarantella dance done to it one day!
  7. IRELAND – It’s interesting how a song that is based on a bittersweet bit of history makes you want to dance. It has a sweet vibe without being saccharin. I found it very infectious.
  8. POLAND – This is a song that gets better every time you hear it. If you didn’t think Justyna was much of a diva, this song is perfect diva material saluting a god that’s a diva. Makes you really look forward to her performance.
  9. NETHERLANDS – It may first be dismissed as a boring song but its light smooth style works for it instead of sets it back. Claude’s soulful vocals add to the quality of the song and you’ll end up liking it more over time.
  10. MALTA – Even with the censoring of the controversial word, Miriana and the song still keep its attitude and its infectious energy and it has what it takes to win you over.

Honorable Mention
Making a Top 10 each Contest also means leaving out some songs you really like. The songs in my honorable mention still deliver a lot to like and could find itself in my Top 10 by the end of the Contest. Here’s my Honorable Mention. In nation alphabetical order:

  • ALBANIA – Why when I first wrote my review, did I say their qualifying chances were 50/50? Time made me like this song a lot more and this could achieve Albania’s best finish ever. Those that heard the song know why. Very infectious!
  • DENMARK – Her buzz just keeps on growing ever time. And rightly so as this song is loaded with energy. It’s like the Danish entry we’ve been waiting all decade long for!
  • GERMANY – It’s a song that has an infectious sound and an infectious beat. Germany has given some boring songs in the past but this song is far from boring. Right from the start it owns your attention.
  • NORWAY – A song that has the best ingredients of a pop song and a young singer that knows how to deliver well. It’s another song that slowly grows on you and delivers more than what you expect.
  • SPAIN – It’s a song about divas where Melody knows how to sing like a diva. The diva energy gets more appealing with every time you listen to this song. This song could go further than most anticipate.

And there you have it. That’s my Top 10 list for Eurovision 2025. I am anticipating changes along the way. We’ll first have to see how well they do in their semifinals and the finals will decide it all. I hope you all have a EuroTastic week!
