Iceland has made its choice! Væb has won Söngvakeppnin 2025 and will represent the Nordic nation at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in Basel this May with their song Róa.
Söngvakeppnin 2025: Iceland’s National Selection
After two semi-finals and one grand final, Icelandic broadcaster RÚV hosted a dazzling conclusion to Söngvakeppnin 2025 on Saturday night, where six acts competed for the ticket to Eurovision. The winner was determined through a combination of 50% international jury vote and 50% public vote.
With a unanimous victory, Væb was crowned Iceland’s Eurovision representative. Their song, Róa, was written by Hálfdán Helgi Matthíasson, Ingi Þór Garðarsson, and Matthías Davíð Matthíasson.
The grand final of Söngvakeppnin 2025 also featured special guest performances, including a medley from Söngvakeppnin 2024 winner Hera Björk and an interval act by Finland’s 2023 Eurovision runner-up Käärijä, bringing extra excitement to the show.
