After a break of two years, Montenegro will compete at Eurovision 2025. Broadcaster RTCG announces the selection process for the representative of Montenegro at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.
Montenegro is officially making its return to the Eurovision Song Contest, as confirmed by the national broadcaster RTCG. To select its representative for Eurovision 2025, Montenegro will introduce a new selection process called “Montesong 2024.” This event, scheduled for late 2024, invites artists and songwriters to submit their entries by October 1. Participation is open exclusively to those with Montenegrin citizenship.
RTCG will form an internal committee to evaluate the submissions, choosing up to 16 songs based on their melody, lyrics, and overall production quality. Should no entry meet the required standard, the broadcaster reserves the right to internally select both the artist and the song for Eurovision 2025.
The winner of Montesong will be determined through a combination of public votes (50%) and the decisions of a national jury (50%).
Montenegro last participated in Eurovision in 2022, with Vladana Vučinić representing the country with her song “Breathe.” The following two years saw Montenegro’s absence from the contest due to financial constraints.
In its Eurovision history, Montenegro has made 12 appearances. Notably, Sergej Ćetković (2014, Copenhagen) and Nenad Knežević Knez (2015, Vienna) succeeded in reaching the finals. The country debuted in 2007, but did not participate in the 2010, 2011, 2020, 2021, 2023, and 2024 editions.
