CyBC, the Cypriot broadcaster, has internally selected Silia Kapsis to represent country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö
Interesting, that Cyprus originally announced a selection show but later switched to an internal selection process after receiving a complaint from the Greek broadcaster.
Silia Kapsis is a 16-year-old singer of Cypriot and Greek descent, born and raised in Sydney, Australia. This will mark the second consecutive year in which the Cyprus has chosen an Australian artist to represent them on the Eurovision stage. In last year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool, the Australian-born artist Andrew Lambrou successfully guided Cyprus to the Grand Final, where his song “Break A Broken Heart” secured a 12th place finish with 126 points.
Silia‘s has strong connection with Cyprus from her a Cypriot father, and Silla’s mother is Greek.
Even though she’s quite young, she’s already an accomplished singer, actress, and dancer, with appearances on numerous TV shows and even taking on the role of a news presenter for Nickelodeon Australia.
In 2022 she released a debut song, Who Am I?, which she had written and composed at the age of 12. The next singles, No Boys Allowed and Disco Dancer, followed in March and May of 2023 with a new single expected before 2024.
Silia’s song for Eurovision will be released at a later stage, meanwhile you can listen her recent song Disco Dancer
