Nice 2023 will be the twenty-first Junior Eurovision and the Netherlands submits its twenty-first entry. No other nation has been in there every year. Once again, the Junior Songfestival was a big attraction. Lots of kids auditioning and the finalists were full of buzz, but there was a near-unanimous favorite. This year, the duo of Sep and Jasmijn topped the kids jury, adult jury and the popular vote on their way to winning the Songfestival and representing. 

If you see the video, you also might find it funny that the video gives the impression the song is about young love while the lyrics are about questioning if a break-up. The upbeat feel of the song will also trick people into thinking that too. The song is loaded with young energy and is one of the most danceable songs of the Contest with only fourteen entries revealed. Also Sep and Jasmijn may have their own charisma to shine on their own but they’re perfectly paired here.

JESC Chances: With the Netherlands being the most loyal nation to Junior Eurovision, you get the feeling their sole victory from 2009 isn’t enough. The songs that normally top the online votes at Junior Eurovision are often upbeat songs which is an advantage for Sep and Jasnijn as there are a lot of ballads entered in this year’s JESC. The two already know how to deliver a winning performance on stage. and I see Top 3 potential for this song. Their staging and dancing from the Junior Songfestival is already a delight but may need to have a few things added. Maybe add in some pyrotechnics. Who knows what the other nations have in store?
