The people of Romania have selected Theodor Andrei with the song “D.G.T. (Off and On)” to represent their country at Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool

Unlike Romanian Selecția Națională 2022, where the jury vote made up 83% of the decision, this year the public had 100% responsibility to say on who should fly to Liverpool and sing for Romania.

TVR (Romania’s public broadcaster) hosting a one-night-only event in their Bucharest studios. Ilinca Băcilă (Romania 2017) and Romanian singer Laurențiu Niculescu hosted the show.

Twelve songs were competing tonight at Selecția Națională 2023 to represent Romanian in Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool and here are the results on televoting:

  1. Theodor Andrei – 5230 votes
  2. Andreea D Folclor Orchestra – 4845 votes
  3. Andrei Duțu – 4302 votes
  4. Aledaida – 4250 votes
  5. Amia – 4232 votes
  6. Steven Roho, Gabriella, Formația Albatros – 2857 votes
  7. Maryliss – 2471 votes
  8. JaxMan – 2459 votes
  9. Deiona – 1878 votes
  10. Andrada Popa – 1606 votes
  11. Ocean Drive – 1469 votes
  12. Adriana Moraru – 925 votes

Once all the votes were cast, Theodor Andrei won with the song “D.G.T. (Off and On).”

The song was written by Luca De Mezzo, Luca Udățeanu, Theodor himself, and Xjahed.

Theodor Andrei is a 19-year-old Romanian student, singer, lyricist, actor, and so much more. He’s won multiple national and international music festivals, and composed over 100 songs.
